This is what I love about the PNW. This is the place of fairytales, of mystery and magic. ⁠ .⁠ We have wanted to visit Oswald West state park for a while and it didn't disappoint. The hike meanders through old growth forest⁠, following the path of the rushing creek lined with thick moss covered rocks. It emerges onto a spectacular surf beach, flanked by huge cliff walls on either side. Simplicity. Is that what we're all searching for? Simplicity in our lives, our work and our relationships. The truth behind this picture perfect nature sensory play, is that I plopped E here in frustration after I couldn't get her to nap at the beach. Did she absolutely love it. Yes. Was this one of the worst parenting decisions when we had to try and get off the wet sandy clothes. Also yes. Would I do it again just to see that face of pure unadulterated joy. Hell yes!⁠ . ⁠ People have often said that we must find it easy getting out in nature and camping with the kids because we do it so often. If you're heading to Coupeville, take some time to stroll to the end to the pier There's a small but amazing interactive display on pollution in the ocean and how it affects marine animals and the environment. When I stare at the ocean I see endless possibilities, untold adventures and mystery. I can't help but wonder what this scene will look like when my children are my age.
